First, call the office to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with Lauren Perez, Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapist. During this initial conversation, you will have the opportunity to briefly discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you may have. This consultation serves as an essential first step in determining if I am the right fit for you and if my services align with your needs.

After the phone consultation, if you feel comfortable moving forward, I will assist you in scheduling your first therapy session. I understand the importance of finding the right therapist, and I am committed to ensuring that you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the process. If we are not a match, due to schedule, fees, modality, etc. I will work hard to find you a match that fits your goals and needs.

Once scheduled, you will receive a link to access your client portal. There you will complete the intake forms required for the session. Please complete forms at least 24 hours prior to the initial session. This is the same portal where all online therapy sessions will be held as well. Please remember your login information. It can be helpful to be sure you have access to the portal/video services prior to the session. This can at times require that you download the application.

You will receive a reminder 24 hours before you scheduled session with the required login information.

On the scheduled day and time of your therapy session, use your reminder link to log onto the online therapy session. You will be greeted by our therapist in a warm and confidential online therapy environment. As a mental health professional, I will work to create a safe space for you to express your thoughts, emotions, and concerns openly. Through active listening, empathy, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques, we will work collaboratively as we explore your challenges, set goals, and develop an individualized treatment plan.

It's important to note that therapy is a personal and transformative journey that requires commitment and time. Regular weekly sessions are typically recommended to establish a solid therapeutic relationship and make progress toward your desired goals. The frequency and duration of sessions will be determined based on your unique circumstances and treatment plan. I offer 50-minute weekly sessions as well as intensives for more focused work. Intensives range from 90-150 minutes.

I understand that taking this step can be daunting, but as a mental health professional (and caring human), I am dedicated to providing compassionate, empathetic, and effective support. Don't hesitate to call today to schedule your free 15-minute phone consultation and embark on a path of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth to rediscover your smile.

  • An online therapy session typically involves you meeting one-on-one with a licensed therapist in a safe, confidential, and comfortable online therapy environment. Here's a general overview of how a therapy session works:

    1. Establishing rapport: At the beginning of your session, the therapist will greet you warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere. The first session will be an information-gathering session to learn more about your goals and history. And to complete the intake assessment.

    2. Setting goals and discussing concerns: You'll have the opportunity to discuss the issues, concerns, or goals that prompted you to seek therapy. This can include challenges in relationships, mental health struggles, personal development, or any other areas of your life that you wish to explore.

    3. Collaboration and treatment planning: Together with your therapist, you will collaborate on setting treatment goals and developing a personalized treatment plan. The therapist will provide guidance, support, and expertise to help you navigate your challenges effectively.

    4. Applying therapeutic techniques: During the session, your therapist will use the most appropriate therapeutic modality to guide you through your challenges, towards self-discovery and acceptance. Lauren Perez therapy incorporates parts work guided by Internal Family Systems to create meaningful and lasting change.

    5. Reflection and exploration: Throughout the session, the therapist will encourage you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors more deeply. The therapist will encourage and guide you to tune in to your system within and listen deeply. To notice and identify body (or somatic) sensations. Listen to your breath and begin to expand your exhales as a calming guide. This work may help you uncover patterns, gain insights, and develop new perspectives that promote self-awareness and personal growth.

    6. Homework and practice: In some cases, the therapist may assign homework or suggest exercises for you to practice outside of therapy sessions. These can include journaling, practicing relaxation techniques, engaging in self-reflection exercises, or experimenting with new coping strategies. Such activities can enhance the therapeutic process and empower you to apply what you learn in therapy to your daily life. (Homework is ALWAYS optional).

It's important to note that therapy is a collaborative process, and the pace and direction of each session will depend on your specific needs and progress. Your therapist is there to support you, facilitate personal growth, and help you navigate challenges along the way. Over time, therapy sessions can provide you with the tools, insights, and coping strategies needed to make positive changes, improve your well-being, and achieve your therapy goals.

  • Therapy offers numerous potential benefits and can have a profound impact on your life. While the specific outcomes may vary depending on your individual needs and goals, here are some common things you can expect to get out of therapy:

    1. Increased self-awareness: Therapy provides an opportunity for deep self-reflection and exploration. You can gain a better understanding of your thoughts, emotions, patterns of behavior, and how they impact your life. This self-awareness can lead to personal growth, improved decision-making, and a greater sense of authenticity.

    2. Improved mental health: Therapy is effective in addressing various mental health conditions and concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and more. Through therapy, you can learn coping strategies, develop healthier thought patterns, and acquire tools to manage and decrease symptoms. This can lead to improved emotional well-being and more enjoyment of daily life.

    3. Enhanced relationships: Therapy can help you navigate challenges in your relationships, whether they are with a partner, family members, friends, or colleagues. By gaining insight into your communication style, emotional needs, and relationship dynamics, you can develop healthier and more fulfilling connections. Internal Family Systems offers you the insight needed to better understand the parts that respond to those around you, and to help those parts feel heard so they can effectively communicate their needs and desires.

    4. Effective coping skills: Therapy equips you with practical tools and coping mechanisms to deal with life's challenges. You can learn techniques to manage stress, regulate emotions, overcome obstacles, and adapt to change. These skills can support your resilience and help you navigate future difficulties.

    5. Increased self-esteem and self-confidence: Therapy provides a supportive environment for building self-esteem and self-worth. By challenging negative beliefs, exploring your strengths, and setting achievable goals, you can develop a more positive self-image and greater confidence in yourself and your abilities.

You can expect to finally accept yourself as the strong, amazing, and resilient person you are!
